Life, food, relationships… we have a way with messing with. And at the end of the day, simplicity is key and also the main ingredients to happiness! Case in point, my skin care.

I can honestly say, as a reformed beauty junky, I am now a minimalist, perhaps even, a purest. The cleaner, actually and metaphorically the products are, the better my skin is for it oh and my bod too. Just remember your skin is the largest organ on your body!

I remember days I would lather on the la mer, at costs more than I care to share, and same with any other potions that were “buzzy right now”! You know, the it words that get us hooked, just like GLOW, dewy, youth, fresh, clean, and anti EVERYTHING.

At the end of the day, you have to do what is right for you, but knowing the skin is reflection of your inner health, means we gotta take some considerations and do a body good from the inside out. Whatever floats your boat, go at it, but these are my staples of glowing skin. Yes there are more things to consider and ways to boost even more… I have a short list at the bottom. But hopefully it will empower you to rethink what you really need. Who knows, your skin and wallet may just love you for it. And hey, beauty is only skin deep. That much I know. SO….

How I get the glow:

PLANTS:

The minute I made plants the focal point of my diet, the brighter my skin became. Glowing from the inside out. It’s a thing. Just think about it, if plants need sun to grow, where do you think that energy goes? I’ll tell you. It is inside the plants. Not only that, but an abundance of vitamins and minerals, that the latest and greatest are always promoting. Colour, variety and quality are key. Get bright in your choices and your skin will have something to show for it. Promised.

The ones to include lots of:

  • Papaya
  • Mangoes
  • Berries
  • Kales
  • Greens
  • Citrus
  • Green teas
  • Mushrooms

MINIMAL PRODUCT –

I use 2! TWO!

for almost 3 years now I have used only coconut oil to wash my face and a homemade serum on top after I cleanse with coconut oil. Stay tuned folks, I will be selling this serum in the Spring. The deal here is that I have had less breakouts…maybe 2-3 in as many years, and more clear skin ever since I cut out the credit card debt of cultural pressure and neck cream.

How it works, Oil attracts oil, and so that is essentially what we are after when cleansing with an oil. Simply massage on to the face, and use a warm hot cloth to toil it off.

The serum….well I cannot tell you whats in it yet, but it is superfood for the skin and is charged with crystals, if you can get down with that kind of thing.

MELISSA BAKER FACES – Hydrafacials!

It really wasn’t until this year that I got into facials, or skin treatments. Here and there I dabbled, but not much kept me around. That was until the Hydrafacial. Left glowing like JLow at an awards show, and no down time. Melissa you got me hooked. It was the luxest my skin had ever felt and looked. Is that a word, luxest? I don’t know. Anyways, I’m hooked. Which was the gateway facial to Micro-needling. This treatment…ok, not for the faint of heart, but truly a miracle worker. And what I love most… you use your body’s own resources to regenerate and reignite that youthful skin! Which is what really sold me. Just because you want to live natural does not mean that you do not want to look your best, and employing your bods own healing system is kinda a cool way to look at it as opposed to some other more invasive stuff. Cool right. Ack, I am only 2 in on these ones and am already a believer. Anyways, she’s dope and I highly recommend.

Skin is a, touchy, subject for most. We identify our age, our health, our beauty, confidence and so much more, with what we put out to the world on our face. Maybe we gotta peel back the layers of the onion to see what is really going on, and then just simplify our needs and stop buying into what an industry of people are trying to sell. Your insecurities!

My other go to’s for glowing skin

The two bottom ones may be the most important to your health.

K guys, glow on with your bad self
