Change: how we glow

When I started to transition to a more “natural” way of life, I decided in order for one to be holistic that we can’t just look at one area of our lives, but really a holistic view of all. Health, happiness, and wellness do start within, but there are so many elements that we must look at, even externally if we are even going to broach the idea of health and happiness, this includes the mind, this includes society, this includes the bigger picture that will always strike up a big conversation. And sometimes, just sometimes, its going to be looking at the simple, very manageable changes and a swipe of lipgloss. Am I right? SO starting there, lets talk skin….

I often get asked what beauty products I use, and suggestions or advice I have around this. I do believe that that thing is that from within when you are happy, healthy and nourished; mind body and spirit, that glow is what is mother natures best friend to you. But lets face it, we all want help sometimes and looking at healthier options in this area may be an amazing first step. Not vein, just wanting to put our best feet forward. Were you all from the generation where your mom told you to put some blush on?

K, I may live the idea of a “hippy life” though I love how that image is changing. I feel like I am a perfect example of this. But I am still a chick, who almost daily wants to at least wear a little makeup…img_2970

Ok, so wait, some of you may be saying….well don’t you just go to the makeup counter? And hey I totally was that person a few years back and sure, if push came to shove… but thing is, your skin is your body’s biggest organ!! Think about that! It is where we eliminate and sometimes absorb toxins, so don’t you want to treat it with a little more respect knowing what you put on your skin is well, sinking right down into you. So essentially, beauty products after all, are not just skin deep. Ever thought of it that way? Its all good, its a process! But in doing so I want to help you find the way to some healthier alternatives to your favourite products.

K, so lets start with makeup. After long and hard testing I have my favourite natural beauty line. Behold RMS Beauty…
img_2978This is my go to, one stop shop makeup line. Pretty much at any given time, the only makeup on my face is by RMS, with the exception of my Mascara. Created by, Vancouver native Rose-Marie Swift, this line went big within mere moments of this product setting place onto the market and is now carried all over the world. What I love about this line is that it was created from a place of sheer authenticity by Rose-Marie. A famed celebrity makeup artist cue Gisele and Miranda but who’s name dropping really, whom after battling with chronic health issues that resulted in physical and emotional problems, developed a line to answer the call for a makeup line free of heavy metals, was organic in colours, and not filled with harmful chemicals! This was after it was discovered that her body was battling with toxic amounts of heavy metals which was the root of her disease.

img_2962Whats to love? It’s certified organic. Packaged in recycled glass. Naturally derived colour. Not tested on animal and is soy, gluten, gmo free. Oh and its gorgeous. This isn’t those “natural” senna dyed type cosmetics. This is equal and better than any luxury line found at a department store. Its Simple. A small range of products and colours that create a fuss free makeup bag.

What are the cons? It’s not cheap… but neither is your health.

What are the main ingredients? Coconut oil. Cocoa butter. Shea Butter. Buriti Oil. Therapeutic extracts in some products such as, St Johns Wart, Tumeric, and licorice.

Where can you find it? Locally in Vancouver @ Kiss and Makeup and Beauty Mark and otherwise Online here

My Go to’s: The un-coverup, Master mixer and creme eye shadows.

Lastly, this is not a sponsored post. This is spreading the good vibe glow that gives us all a healthier chance at life.As always, no photoshop, no airbrush, just the straight up goods and a face full of RMS

Hey there. Very happy I found your blog and slowly making my way through your pots. Do you have any suggestions for sunscreen (face and body)? Thanks ever so.

Hi There, I am looking forward to doing a post on this more in a few months. In the meantime I’m looking into a few brands. Its interesting to note though that coconut oil, although not a high spf, contains anywhere from an spf 4 naturally this blocks 75% off UV radiation. 75% protection is about 45 minutes of sun exposure. I’ll get back to you when I find some other options and thanks for visiting!! Kate
